Piano Magic Special Order I Came To Your Party Dressed As A Shadow (EP) + 2 Tracks 'Low Birth Weight' was Piano Magic's second album released after 'Popular Mechanics' (ChÈ '97). It surprised us in 1999, with its petite beauty and its tender collection of toy-like songs. The album owed much to the darkest shoegazers -Cranes, Slowdive, Miranda Sex Garden-, and was an eclectic and exciting map inclined to intimacy. Last year, Glen Johnson's band, finally with a stable lineup ñ which includes Miguel MarÌn, a Seville born drummer that played on Sr. Chinarro's "Compito"-, gave us "Artists Rifles, an impressive LP led by the poetry of Wilfred Owen. The LP brought together a handful of sad stories about lost youth among sensitivity and emotional outbursts. In this way Piano Magic proved themselves worthy heirs, in equal parts, of 90's experimental pop icons (Disco Inferno), post-punk classics (Joy Division) or of the best of early post-rock originated in the Isles (Bark Psychosis). Following their recent Spanish tour and corroborating the more than likely fledge of the band to 4AD, Piano Magic present Acuarela with three exclusive and previously unreleased songs. High in lyrical content, wrapped in delicate atmospheres and dawn-like minimalism, they straightforwardly deal with time's toll ("Blood and snow"), parties crashed while dreaming awake ("I came to your party dressed as a shadow"). And tell of endless hours on the road between shows where it's impossible to find ñyes, contrary to what you would think--- a tunnel at the end of the light ("The Drowning of St. Christopher").
